Title

[Platform_Windows]Massive Animation Slowdown following install of FP 10.3.183.5

Description

Problem Description:

Hey guys,

I run a flash based massively multiplayer game and I've noticed a massive animation lag following upgrading to the latest version of the player. Our players began reporting the issue, and I didn't notice until I grabbed the latest version. All of our vector-based character animations run very slowly now. It definitely seems to be the player as we've found that on machines not upgraded with the latest version the game performs well.

Can you shine any light on the changes that were made that would affect animation performance?

Our game is published to FP 9.0... written in AS3. I use Flash Pro CS3 as the publishing environment. We've had no problems prior to this update. I've reviewed the release notes but can't find anything that seems related to my issue. Been searching for the cause for hours with no luck.

Thanks

Steps to Reproduce: Install player 10.3.183.5

Any Workarounds: Install an older player

    Hey guys,

    We're having the same issue.

We develop a large flash game with tens of millions of players that I help QA. When we updated to flash 10,3,183,5 parts of our game became unplayable due to performance issues. We trimmed out lots of graphics, but the problems persist.

Currently 10% of our total player base is on this latest flash player. So this is a major problem for us.

Please could someone let me know if this issue is being investigated.

We still do not have a good solution to this problem. I've made drastic cuts to our client to determine what is causing the slowdown and nothing has really improved performance dramatically. Any notes on what was changed in the recent update would be most beneficial to at least give me some direction... please help.

I've successfully extracted 40% of the graphical content from our main game client, including the removal of all gradient, large graphics, masks, and filters and we're still seeing a tremendous slowdown in animation performance. I even removed 90% of the frames from our character model. Overall our game client file size is now less 1mb and contains very few graphical elements.... We need some direction on this. As the game head, I've tried over 25 fixes and nothing has worked (I can provide the list of what I've tried if you need it).

Still seeking a solution for this very easily reproduceable slow down in performance. Does anyone have any suggestions or directions they can point us in? Something changed in the latest player 10.3.183.5 is causing the problem

The flash is ridiculous. 30 secs+ to move across the screen. 22 secs for chat to pop up. Ridiculous.

You can reproduce this issue by comparing our game's performance using FP 10.3.183.5 and and the old FP 10.3.181.34.

Reverting to the older player 10.3.181.34 instantly improves performance.

Is there any direction you can point me in so I can at least create a work around until the issue is resolved? Other games at our company seem to not be affected by the update... and we haven't been able to identify any differences. Any details about what areas of the player were changed would help.

Reverting to player 10.3.181.34 seems to fix the issue, BUT THIS IS NOT an acceptable solution.

I also play this game (http://epicduel.artix.com/play-now/) and have noticed slower animations and an increase in lag. This has caused a disturbance in my game play. I had to resort to using a browser which does not have the latest Flash updated(Internet Explorer) and the game has been running smooth since. I do hope this gets fixed soon.

I also play EpicDuel, because I heard about this bug early on I avoided updating flash so I can still play using firefox. However since google chrome updates its flash component automatically I cannot use chrome for any interactive flash applications. The only flash it can handle are videos. Many players for epicduel are very annoyed by this as it essentially makes the game unplayable, I am sure that it is hurting the game company's sales by a large amount. No one wants to pay for a game that lags worse than anything else.

I've experienced the same issue while playing Epic Duel, before the flash update I never had lag like this, and I've heard that many other players are experiencing the same problem as well. This bug has caused multiple delays in releases, and the players are getting pretty upset about the issue, I hope this issue can be fixed soon.

    Thanks for reading.

I play this game as well (http://epicduel.artix.com/play-now/) and with the latest Adobe Flash Player update (for all browsers - 10.3.183.5), I am experiencing a huge slowdown in animations when I play and it is causing the game to be difficult to play because of the amount of lag that it causes.

I play this game as well and it worked smoothly until the automatic update to the newest version of Flash by my Google Chrome. Now it's hardly playable.I didn't realize why so I accidentally installed it on my Firefox as well...now I cannot use either. So I hope it gets fixed.

There a significant slowdown when using FP 10.3.183.5 as it slows down to the point of unplayable, its really unbearable playing it like this

I'm forced to use a browser (using Internet Explorer to play now) with a older version of flash in order to continue to enjoy Epic Duel now, hope it gets fixed.

I am also a player of this game (http://epicduel.artix.com/play-now/) and I can not use chrome anymore to play this game because of the Flash Player Update. I had to revert to Safari to play, luckily I got a new computer and learned not to update the flash player to the latest version. I hope this gets fixed soon.

    Thanks,

I also play this game (http://epicduel.artix.com/play-now/). After the automatic update to the 10.3.183.5 version of Flash by my Google Chrome I noticed a huge slowdown in terms of the animations in EpicDuel.

Switching to a browser with an old version of Flash was my only alternative since the slowdown practically makes the game unplayable.

I play this game actively, averaging 30 mins+ daily.

I normally use Google Chrome, but the newest Flash was horrible. I have a HP Pavilion dv5 laptop and a Motorola Xoom. I reverted to the old Flash version on my laptop, but now I'm having severe difficulties playing EpicDuel on my Xoom Tablet.

    Thank you,

I play this game as well (http://epicduel.artix.com/play-now/) and with the latest Adobe Flash Player update (for all browsers - 10.3.183.5), I am experiencing a huge slowdown in animations now when I play, and it is causing the game to almost be ruined, because of the amount of 'lag' that it causes.

Significant graphical slowdown in several online games, even when there is little detail or animation, on all browsers running Flash Player 10.3.183.5. Reverting to previous versions of Flash Player solves the problem.
